Our Letter to Parents

August 22, 2007

Dear Parents,

We know that making a choice to find a boarding school or college is very difficult. We realize that there are many choices and selections. We are very concern about helping you to make the right choice. There are schools exclusively for boys, and some for only girls, while others are co educational, there are military boarding schools. Others offer help for students with special needs.

Therapeutic Boarding Schools offer a much different learning environment than traditional boarding schools Therapeutic boarding schools are smaller in size, have more therapeutic programs, and are clinically staffed. Some therapeutic programs are also called residential treatment programs. RTC programs are similar, but they are not boarding schools. They are treatment focused facilities.

They offer a mix of academic, clinic along with clinical and therapeutic programming. The length of stay in a RTC might be shorter than a therapeutic boarding school. Most therapeutic boarding schools have longer length of stay many times at least a year.

Most traditional boarding schools offer many activities for students. Some programs have fine arts programs, athletic, even community services opportunities. Students come from all over the country to attend boarding schools. The have specific requirement to attend.

Therapeutic boarding schools also offer parents a choice through placement and selection of types of programming. We help you make best choices. Boarding schools are not designed for bad children. Many assumptions have been made about boarding schools. This myth frequently becomes the issue in making a decision to send a student.

Another assumption is “All students who attend boarding schools have problems”. This is also a myth. Parents who find out about boarding can to this site to find out some common myths. (click here) Making the best choice for your child is very important. We know how important your children are to you.

We want your child to be in the best programs which saves you time and effort looking for a schools or a particular program. There are wilderness programs in boarding schools which are a step before being placed in a therapeutic barding school. Most consultants will have a student go to a wilderness program before going to a therapeutic boarding school placement. The reason for this is that it allows a consultant to determine if a longer placement is needed. Consultants work with college placement and we also provide this service. Call us for a initial consultation and let us help you with your child.

Sincerely yours,

Kenneth Davis MA Ed Educational Consultant
